Well I've been using the N95 as my main phone for the last week now and there are a few major things which really annoy me about this phone.

1. Low RAM, I've updated my N73 firmware a few times, so maybe if I'd did this to the N95 it might have improved this? With the N95 I'd always end up with 4 or 5MB of RAM left and have to reset the phone a few times a day or only have one application running at a time. With my N73 the RAM would always recover some of the memory back after I'd closed some apps, but not the N95.

2. Phone Resets, every day near enough the phone would reset by itself, I've googled this and a few other N95 owners have this problem.

3. Camera & Video, slow to open, slow to take, impossible to playback. Why have this feature if its impossible to use. My tips for anyone with a N95 is take the picture/video, but never playback right away. Close the camera and open gallery to view. At one point the N95 froze up and I had half a picture on the screen with the menu's behind it, had to take out the battery to get it working again. Maybe this is due to the low RAM available, I just don't know?

The things which delight me with this phone were:
1. 5MP camera, the pictures and video I did take where really good, sound on the video was a little poor, but inability to play video back after taking it was so so so annoying to say the least.

2. Wifi, initially had problems connecting to my Sky Router, but after changing the wifi settings to manual it worked a treat. Mostly used the wifi for downloading podcasts quickly and listening to internet radio most of the night. Also connected to a BT Router and a few free wifi spots in Glasgow, with no problems.

3. Internet calls, setup my sipgate account in 30 seconds and was able to make and receive calls over 3G and Wifi connection.

4. Increased internal memory, was always down to my last few MBs in my N73 so had to watch how many apps I installed, but with the N95's 100MB I've installed nearly every app I have and I've got nearly 60MB left. I try not to install apps on the external memory as I feel if you install on the internal and external memory it slows the phone down over time.

5. The phone, I like the slider phone, I like the way it switches orientation depending what direction you slide it. Great when surfing the net and for some game play. Watching video (mp4 and DivX Avi mostly) using the built-in players and CorePlayer on the N95 is very good and the sound quality is a lot better than my N73.

I don't want to dwell on all the negative stuff, there are more positives with the N95, but the low memory is just the killer for this phone which makes the positives just a little bit tainted. Here's hoping with the newer N95 8GB with its increased RAM, it turns this phone into what it should be.

Maybe if I'd upgraded to the newer firmware there may have been improvements to the old N95. I didn't really want to do this seeing its not really my phone, so please post a comment if you have upgraded and tell me if it does or doesn't.

I'm sending the phone back tomorrow, I'll miss it, but really want to try the new N95 8GB to see if the increased RAM make the improvements I hope it does to the N95. If it does, I know what I want for Christmas.
